COVID-19 Community Update
27 August 2021
Ahiahi ki to maatau whanau Kura o Matangi – Evening to our Matangi School family,
This afternoon the Prime Minister announced that we will be moving to Alert Level 3 as from 11:59pm Tuesday the 31st of August 2021.
At Alert Level 3, people are asked to keep their bubbles as small as possible and to work and learn from home, as much as they possibly can. This means, that for most of our Matangi School students, school remains closed and our online learning will continue.
For a small number of students, who are unable to remain at home at Alert Level 3, Matangi School will be available for onsite/online learning (Matangi School will not be functioning in the way students and whānau are used to).
We have been given a range of specific health and safety restrictions by the Ministry; these will apply when our school reopens on Wednesday the 1st of September.
For those learners who have parents who need to be physically at their place of work i.e. are Essential Workers, and there is no other person in their immediate or extended bubble who can supervise them during the day, Matangi School will offer onsite/online learning.
If your child needs to be at school for onsite/online learning at Alert Level 3, a Google form will be sent out tomorrow (Saturday) for you to complete by 3pm Monday the the 30th of August (we cannot accept any late responses sorry).
On this form you will be able to indicate what days and times you require supervision (shift workers only) for your child/ren. We will then set up staffing and systems on Tuesday, ready to begin on Wednesday the 1st of September.
We will continue to keep you informed with updates from the Ministry of Education and will have more details to share next week. Thank you for working with us to keep everyone safe.
“Stay strong, stay home, let’s finish what we’ve started.”
Helena Kirkham
(Acting Principal)
