What is Agricultural Day?
Agricultural Day (Ag Day) is one of Matangi School’s most cherished traditions and a wonderful opportunity for students and families to get involved.
Each year, students are invited to raise a calf, lamb, or kid goat, caring for, grooming, and training their animal in preparation for Ag Day. Throughout the process, children develop a range of valuable life skills while learning about responsible animal care and welfare.
Raising an animal is a unique and rewarding experience, often creating a special bond between the child and their animal. Through Ag Day, students have the opportunity to develop:
- Compassion and nurturing skills
- Responsibility and commitment
- Confidence and leadership
- Patience and perseverance
- Initiative and self-reliance
- An understanding of animal health and welfare
- Presentation skills
- Resilience, whatever the weather brings!
